Liam Blake: Shorelines
“Liam Blake, the Dublin photographer known for his Real Ireland postcard series, has an exhibition of black and white photographs entitled ‘Shorelines’ which opens at the Gallery of Photography, Wellington Quay, Dublin this Saturday (November 16 1991). Liam has become passionate about the protection of Ireland’s beaches and shorelines and these photographs celebrate them in rich, silvery, sandy images.
Shorelines is the culmination of three years work carried out while Liam travelled the countryside photographing the Real Ireland postcards.” – Newsline 22/11/91
“What price the real Ireland? A photograph entitled ‘Dunes, Tranarossan, Co Donegal’ by Liam Blake, the photographer who revolutionised the impossibly green fields and blue skies of the traditional Irish picture postcard. On his many journeys around the country recording the “Real Ireland” series, Liam Blake has repeatedly encountered that magical spot where landscape meets seascape – and his exhibition, “Shorelines”, currently showing at the Gallery of Photography on Wellington Quay in Dublin, is brimful of sandy, silvery images.” – The Irish Times 25/11/91
