Explaining Magic to Mercer by Susan Mac William [2005] Date –3rd, 4th & 5th September 2008 A variety of bizarre and extraordinary phenomena are discussed in the 2005 video work ‘Explaining Magic To Mercer’, here the artist discusses the X-Ray vision of Kuda Bux, the ectoplasmic materialisations of Helen Duncan, the multiple personalities of Mollie Fancher and the fingertip vision of Rosa Kuleshova with her 5 year old nephew Mercer.
Latoon by Sean Lynch [2007] Date –3rd, 4th & 5th September 2008 In 1999, folklorist Eddie Lenihan campaigned to save a whitethorn bush from being destroyed by the construction of a €90 million road scheme in County Clare, Ireland. Lenihan claimed that the bush is an important meeting place for supernatural forces. Its destruction would result in death and great misfortune for motorists travelling on the proposed new road. The local council, acting on his advice, changed the direction of the road away from the bush.
The Carraige by Diego Gutierrez [2008] Date –3rd, 4th & 5th September 2008 Some years ago, my Dutch filmmaker friend Kees Hin came to visit me in Mexico City. Kees told me once that when he was a child his father taught him to stop believing in the Devil and that the Devil had left, but now he wanted to know more about it. Maybe that’s why during his stay in Mexico, he was so intrigued by the variety of devil figures made by Mexican craftsmen and he asked me to find one to take back home with him to Amsterdam.
