Approaches to Portraiture - Studio Workshop This workshop will introduce you to studio lighting for portraiture. The aim of the course is explore a variety of approaches to portraiture, which will help you to develop your own individual style. The course will cover the following key areas: lighting your subject, using both available and studio lighting; use of film and digital media;use of different camera formats; choice of location; making the most of a variety of light sources; different stylistic approaches and less expensive alternatives to studio-based flash photography. What do I need to know? This course is ideal for anyone who knows the basics of photography (film,and/or digital file processing, use of manual camera, printing techniques,etc) What does the course entail?
This course will enable you to explore the creative possibilities of studio- and available light. Participants will be shown the lighting set-up of several established What do I need to bring? Participants should bring a camera; film or digital SLR. Studio lights, backdrops, tripod and exposure meter will be supplied. Where does the course take place? This course is held in the Gallery of Photography in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin 2. How do I book a place? Places are booked only on receipt of full course fee (non refundable). Phone booking can be made using Mastercard or Visa. Please note we cannot accept bookings by email. In order to secure a place we advise that you book well in advance as places are heavily oversubscribed. How do I prepare? There is extra information available here as a .pdf document.
