Biography: Born in Dungannon, Co. Tyrone in 1945, Victor studied painting at Belfast College of Art and at Leeds College of Art. He was elected Academician of the Royal Ulster Academy in 2000. He has had solo shows in Germany, Poland, Sweden, Mexico and the USA, as well as throughout Ireland and the UK. His solo exhibitions at the Gallery of Photography include Acts of Faith (1992) and a major retrospective Victor Sloan: selected works (2001) and a video projection work, WALK (2007).
His work is in many private and public collections including those of the Imperial War Museum, London, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the National Media Museum and the Museum of International Contemporary Art, Brazil.
