Biography: Born in 1942 in Trim, Co. Meath and lives in Dublin. He began to photograph in the early 70s working through the medium of black and white. He specialised in portraiture and still life, but from mid 70s, it was the landscape of the Dublin and Wicklow mountins that has dominated his work. He strives through the photographic image to fuse the physical and spiritual elements of the landscape.
He has exhibited in a number of major exhibitions organised by the Gallery of Photography, including Out of the Shadows (1982) and Irish Images (1991) shown at Wellington Quay; as well as Contemporary Irish Photography (1987) and Captured Light (1989) which were shown in the Guinness Hop Store.
Along with Tony O’Shea, he represented Ireland at the Montivilliers Visual Arts Festival, France in 1990. In 1992 he exhibited alongside Michael Boran and Anthony Haughey at the Douarnenez Festival du Cinema.
His work is in many private collections, and was recently included into the public collection of the South Dublin County Council.
