Dr. Justin Carville ‘”Topographies of Terror”: Photography, Historical Consciousness and the Celtic Tiger’
Dr Justin Carville will discuss recent Irish photography in the context of the Celtic Tiger and its aftermath. Beginning with the drawing together of several cultural shifts in Irish photography in the late twentieth century, the talk explores the place of photography as envisioning the collective experience of the myth of the Celtic Tiger and its demise with the global financial crisis.

A busy evening will focus on works-in-progress and will also introduce Matt Johnston, UK based Photobook club founder and educator, who will talk about his new ‘Books in a Box’ initiative to which the Gallery of Photography will be contributing.
